Participating venues include: The Waiting Room, The PS Collective, The Foundry, Barley Street Tavern, Mick’s, Musette Bar, Espana, Benson Grind, Mia’s Bongo Room and Louis Bar & Grille. The MAMF, as musicians have nicknamed the event, will take place beginning September 3 and conclude on Sunday, September 7, 2008. “Omaha already enjoys an international reputation for the Saddle Creek record label” says Executive Producer, Tony Lange. “Omaha continues to produce quality talent when it comes to independent musicians. We believe that a music festival of this caliber will not only position Omaha as a major player in the independent music arena but it will also provide out-of-state musicians with the opportunity to attract a whole new Midwestern audience”. The MAMF will also include educational seminars, guest speakers, networking opportunities, industry panelists and more. “We anticipate thousands of musicians and festival attendees will make the trip to Omaha for this inaugural four-day music festival, says Lange. This will not only create a positive image of Omaha as a vibrant artistic community, but it will provide a substantial financial impact on the local economy as well.” Musicians accepted to perform at the MAMF were required to submit an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) via Sonicbids or by visiting the MAMF web site at www.MidAmericanMusicFestival.com and submitting their bands information. Submissions were reviewed by a panel of 12 music industry experts and were rated on a scale of 1-7. Bands that received a cumulative 4.5 or higher rating were extended an invitation to perform. Over 160 bands will perform over the four-day festival. A tentative list of performers can be found on the official MAMF web site at www.MidAmericanMusicFestival.com. Musicians will be traveling to Omaha from as far away as New York, Florida, Australia, England, California, Texas and more.
